Newborn Photographer, Gisborne & the Macedon Ranges
This part of your baby's life goes fast. The newborn scrunch, the tiny yawns, the way they still fold up like they did inside you. I come to your home in the first couple of weeks and capture it exactly as it is, no studio, no posed setups, just your family meeting your new baby for the first time. Based in Gisborne, servicing the Macedon Ranges and Melbourne.
Mum first, photographer second.
Hello!I'm Bec, and before I was a photographer, I was a mum living through those exact first few weeks, the exhaustion, the not-quite-put-together house, the baby who won't settle unless someone's holding them. I know what that stage actually feels like, which is why my newborn sessions are relaxed and unhurried. We work at your baby's pace, in the comfort of your own home.
How does a newborn photography session work?
There's no rushing a newborn session, so we don't try to. Most sessions run around two hours, which gives us plenty of room for feeds, settling, nappy changes, or just a pause if your baby needs one. We work around your baby, not the other way round.
You don't need to tidy the house or style anything. I'll work with the light and the space you already have. If you've got other kids or a dog who wants to be part of things, bring them in, they're part of your family's story too.
Before the session I'll send you a short guide with a few things to think about, like feeding times and what to have on hand, so you're not wondering what to expect on the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, newborn sessions can take place in your own home across Gisborne and the Macedon Ranges. There’s no need for a perfectly styled house. I’ll find the best natural light and photograph your family in a relaxed, calm manner. There is a travel fee for homes outside of the Macedon Ranges which is quoted based on the location (eg. Northern suburbs, inner melbourne, south east suburbs.)

Around 1-4 weeks after birth is a lovely time for newborn photos, but there’s no strict deadline. Babies change quickly, but beautiful and meaningful photographs can be captured at any stage. I recommend booking during pregnancy so we can allow some flexibility around your baby’s arrival.
-
Absolutely. Parents, siblings and pets are all welcome to be part of your newborn session. The session is child led, so older siblings can take breaks, play and join in without being expected to sit still or pose. We also take regular breaks for nappy changes and feeds so siblings will not need to sit still for the whole time.

Choose clothing that feels comfortable and reflects your family. Colours, patterns and texture photograph beautifully, and you don’t need to match. I’ll also send you my what-to-wear guide before your session to help. It includes inspiration on colour palettes, as well as do’s and do not’s!
-
That’s completely normal. There’s plenty of time for feeding, changing and settling your baby whenever needed. Newborn sessions follow your baby’s pace, with no pressure to make them sleep or behave a certain way. Cuddles make the best photos! I encourage parents to stay calm and present and let me worry about getting the shot.

I’m always a mother first, and I take this time in a new mum’s life very seriously. I absolutely love my job and feel so grateful to be welcomed into people’s homes during such a special time. There’s no pressure for your baby to sleep or your family to perform for the camera.
I’m simply there to capture the beauty in this stage, even if you can’t see or feel it yet, so you have photographs to look back on and cherish for years to come.
